RUDY CRUZ
Rudy Cruz was raised in the “ranchos” of San Angelo, Texas where at a young age, he knew where his place in the world would be: broadcasting. At 14, he started his mobile DJ service to get his foot in the door. He then started work as a morning DJ at the local Tejano radio station to help pay for college. In 2002, Rudy graduated from Angelo State University with a B.A. in Communications. Soon after, he found work as the main anchor and managing editor for the local NBC affiliate, KSAN. “That experience allowed me to see the world through a different set of eyes,” he remarked. “Your community gets 30 minutes to learn what happened during their day- you get the opportunity to re-tell that day to the audience.”
Three years later, Rudy made the move to San Antonio to work for a direct marketing company. He spent up to 14 hours a day merchandising gear for the Spurs; most of that time on the West side drinking horchata. In September 2005, Rudy joined KXTN and continues a mid-day on air shift. Today, he resides in Converse and is pursuing a Master’s Degree at OLLU. He is also a spokesperson for the American Legacy Foundation, helping youths reject tobacco. Rudy enjoys reading, talking about goats and chasing weather.
You can catch Rudy Cruz with morning news 6-9am during the Jonny Ramirez in the Morning Show and Sunday evenings with the KXTN Cruzin’ Classic Show.
